Bantry Bay Holiday Guide

Description

Between Sea Point and Clifton lies Bantry Bay, one of the most exclusive residential stretches on Cape Towns Atlantic coastline. Luxurious apartments hug the mountain slopes and overlooking the sea, sheltered from the wind by Signal Hill/Lions Head looming above.

Bantry Bay was originally called Botany Bay after a botanical garden that was planted here for the cultivation of medicinal herbs. It has a unique little beach called Saunders’ Rocks which has a lovely tidal pool for safe bathing.

As its name signifies, Bantry Bay lies perched on the rocks overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in one of the most exclusive bays on the Atlantic Seaboard. Crashing waves, magnificent sunsets and protection from the wind make Bantry Bay much sought after and, because of its position, an ideal base from which to explore Cape Town.

Bantry Bay lies just outside the vibey suburb of Sea Point and, although it doesn’t have a beach of its own, you can reach the beaches of Clifton on foot or Saunders Rocks at Sea Point has a little tidal pool. Bantry Bay hugs the slopes of Lion’s Head and the very contemporary apartments that line the Bantry Bay sea front are as close to the ocean as you can get.

The Location of Bantry BayBantry Bay is 25 kms from Cape Town International Airport, 5km from Cape Town station and central Cape Town.

It is only 10 minutes from the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, 5 minutes from Clifton Beach and 15 minutes from the Table Mountain Cable Way.

Stellenbosch and other Cape Wine Routes are a leisurely drive away, whilst cultural attractions such as the Cape Town Botanical Gardens, Parliament Buildings, SA National Art Gallery, Planetarium and others can be found nearby.
